Pictorial format · An extended field of view
A panorama offers an extended view that asks the eye to travel across a scene. It may be a broad flat image or an enveloping display. The challenge is continuity: foreground, horizon, light and narrative must connect across a field too wide to be read in one concentrated glance.

A continuous horizon or spatial framework, linked foreground forms, atmospheric distance and alternating areas of activity and rest. Width alone is not enough; the scene needs a visual route through it.
From a wide image to an enveloping encounter
The Bourbaki Panorama in Lucerne is a surviving 360-degree painting, described by its museum as 112 metres long and 10 metres high. It shows that panorama can refer to a spatial viewing experience as well as a wide image format.
The AOI examples are new imagined vistas, not reproductions of that work or records of historical events. A landscape, cityscape or battle subject may be presented panoramically, so format and subject should remain separate database concepts.
Connect the whole field
Set a consistent horizon and decide how the viewer travels from near to far. A promenade, river or sequence of overlapping buildings can link distant parts of the image. Avoid dividing the width into unrelated postcard views with incompatible perspective.
Distribute emphasis. A bright foreground detail may begin the journey, but quieter intervals let the eye continue. Repeating the same scale and contrast across the entire width can flatten the experience.
Design for the intended display
For a flat panorama, inspect both the full composition and several overlapping crops. For a proposed circular display, consider the join and the viewer’s position; a wide rectangle alone does not establish a seamless 360-degree environment.
Prompt an extended coherent scene with explicit foreground links and atmospheric depth. Check duplicated structures, broken shorelines and abrupt changes in lighting. The generated gallery contains concept illustrations, including a proposed circular gallery, not an implemented immersive installation.
A small poetic detour
Original words from the AOI studio.
Poetry
The shoreline leads beyond the frame;
The distant hills repeat its name.
My wandering eye has room to roam,
And finds the same horizon home.
The prompt workshop
Original creative exercises. These prompts create new illustrations, not documentary evidence.
Start here · Lakeside dawn
Original wide painted panorama of an invented lakeside city at dawn, continuous horizon, foreground promenade linking the width, mountain distance and alternating quiet and lively areas. Luminous atmospheric depth, no lettering or single oversized central monument.
Harbor · A connected shoreline
Original panoramic harbor view with one continuous shoreline, boats at varied distances, a low town and distant hills under coherent evening light. Broad visual sweep, connected foreground, no repeated cloned buildings or text.
Immersive concept · A circular landscape
Concept visualization inside a circular gallery surrounded by an original continuous river-valley painting, a few visitors for scale and a coherent horizon around the room. Clearly a proposed display, no historical attribution or labels.
A smile from the studio
Jokes
The panorama asked for a wider audience.
The horizon refused a close-up; it preferred the bigger picture.
