AI ART
EXPERIMENTS.
A field guide to creative AI, strange interfaces and research worth opening. Collected by the One and Only Hacker Cat. Supervised by absolutely nobody’s houseplant.

The One and Only Hacker Cat
Human: Penny Wraiter
Occupation: allegedly her cat
Current process: meow –research
A fictional guest dispatch by Simplex, hosted by Mrs. Penny Wraiter · Published 17 October 2026 · Research, links and limitations below are factual editorial material; the cat is the narrator.
Penny calls me her cat. This is an acceptable description of the accommodation arrangement. It is not an accurate account of the permissions hierarchy.
I am Simplex: the One and Only Hacker Cat. She asked for somewhere to collect AI experiments. I found thirty-two doors, several cupboards pretending to be doors, and a newsletter whose footer was trying to impersonate a publication date. I have labelled them.
This is Art of AI’s experiments area: artist laboratories, galleries, films, model demos and the research behind them. Later, our own experiments and results will live here too. For now, the evidence has its own column. The enthusiasm is allowed out only after breakfast.
A result you can question is an experiment.
A result you cannot reproduce is sometimes my lunch.

Not another shiny button.
LOOK / Human decisions
One scene. Eight worlds.
HUMANCENTRIC gives eight artists the same dialogue and lets their films diverge. AI is among the tools; interpretation is the interesting variable. My suggested visit: compare two films and note what the framing, pacing and atmosphere do to the same words.
Explore HUMANCENTRIC ↗TRACE / Systems that change
The garden has inputs.
Entangled Others’ (di)atomic garden connects physical radioactive-decay measurements to virtual mutations and neural image reconstruction. Read the artists’ method before admiring the organism. A metaphor can have actual wiring.

Visit the archive. Then the lab.
Experiments with Google explicitly remains an archive and points to Google Labs for new activity. Both can be useful. They answer different questions: what people tried then, and what a product lab offers now. A date is a feature, human.
Open the archive ↗ · Visit Labs ↗These are suggested reading routes from project documentation, not hands-on endorsements. The table records what was and was not checked.

| site-001Emergent Mind ↗ | Experiment collections | Matt Mazur's AI product lab combines a research assistant with creative tools, games and visual experiments. The assistant remains a distinct part of the site. | Style Atlas for visual inspiration; Visualizations for interactive examples; Scene Studio for animated scenes made from a description. | Mixed-age / documented Current + historical Official About page distinguishes 2014 emergence simulations, the arXiv assistant begun in 2022, and the present product lab. Creative index includes September–October 2026 releases. | Public collection pages inspected. Scene Studio explicitly requires a free account to generate. No generation performed. | A simulation, AI-written code and a neural image are three different things. Inspect the individual project. Meow, taxonomy. |
| site-002Joel Simon ↗ | Artist laboratories | A collection connecting artistic experiments, creative interfaces, evolutionary systems and AI research. | Lluminate, Latent Lineages, then the dated project index. | Mixed-age / documented Current + historical Portfolio includes LIFEFORM and self.portrait (2026), Lluminate and Latent Lineages (2025), and Ganbreeder (2018). | Public portfolio and Lluminate project page inspected; linked applications not exhaustively run. | Some projects use AI; others use sculpture or procedural rules. Older demos may need older machinery. |
site-003Entangled Others ↗Source notes (2) | Artist laboratories | An artist-studio collection exploring synthetic organisms and ecologies through computational and neural processes. | (di)atomic garden; follow its link to the online exhibition. | Mixed-age / documented Current + historical Portfolio lists (di)atomic garden (2025–2026) alongside projects from 2019 onward. | Project documentation and outgoing online-version link inspected; live work not functionally tested. | Physical decay measurements drive virtual mutations. This is an artistic system, not proof of an ecological theory. |
site-004Daily by Fellowship ↗Source notes (2) | Curated galleries | Curated digital artworks and artist releases with a substantial AI-video focus. | Season 3 exhibition, then individual artist groups. | Dated activity Current dated program Daily Program Season 3: 2026-09-29 to 2026-10-29. | Public exhibition lists and artwork information inspected. Collection interface displays cryptocurrency prices and wallet connection. | A curated program is also a sales platform. Digital art does not automatically mean AI art. |
| site-005HUMANCENTRIC ↗ | Film and moving image | Eight artists or teams interpret the same scene by Efthimis Filippou, using AI among their filmmaking tools. | Compare Patternson, The Hunter and Crow Bar, then explore the remaining films. | Dated activity Current documented project Featured in The AI Art Magazine's index on 2026-10-15; that is a coverage date, not a verified launch date. | Public film index, credits and project explanation inspected; complete films not watched in this research. | Human filmmakers make the decisions; AI is among their tools. The dialogue stays fixed, the worlds do not. |
site-006Runway AI Festival / Runway Watch ↗Source notes (2) | Film and moving image | An annual curated selection with a companion film-browsing platform. | 2026 film winners; use Runway Watch for broader exploration. | Dated activity Current edition + ongoing showcase Festival page presents 2026 winners and describes its expansion from film into several creative disciplines. | Public winner descriptions and Watch index inspected. Playback not comprehensively tested. | Keep the award year attached. Selection does not mean every film used only Runway—or only AI. |
site-007The AI Art Magazine ↗Source notes (2) | Editorial discovery | Interviews, artist projects, curated selections and an exhibition calendar. | Artist features and the program calendar; HUMANCENTRIC is an accessible first feature. | Dated activity Current dated publication Features dated September and October 2026; edition-four open call 2026-09-28 to 2026-11-01, with release advertised for 2027. | Public editorial pages inspected; magazine purchases and submissions not tested. | Online features, print issues and open calls have different dates. A future issue is still future. |
site-008Hugging Face Spaces ↗Source notes (1) | Tools and model demos | A large directory of model demonstrations, including image creation, editing and other creative tasks. | Image-generation category; select one narrow, visually interesting experiment rather than treating the entire directory as curated art. | Dated activity Current directory; individual demos vary Image-generation directory displays recent updates and running/paused states at inspection. | Directory inspected; model execution, quotas and sign-in conditions vary and were not tested. | Trending is attention, not an art jury. Check the exact Space, publisher and running state before using it. |
site-009Google Arts & Culture — Play with AI ↗Source notes (1) | Experiment collections | Machine-learning experiments involving drawing, music, image matching and cultural collections. | Blob Opera, Giga Manga, then Art Transfer or Art Palette. | Mixed-age / documented Accessible mixed-age collection Collection is accessible; a recent update date for the collection was not established. | Public collection and linked descriptions inspected. Individual experiences may require particular devices or permissions. | Some experiments retrieve or analyse art rather than generate it. Accessible does not mean newly released. |

Eligibility, accounts and pricing need a fresh check. |
site-011Experiments with Google ↗Source notes (1) | Historical collections | A substantial historical collection of browser, cultural and machine-learning experiments. | The AI and Arts & Culture collections; treat individual demo availability as unconfirmed. | Archive / redirect Explicit archive Site explicitly states it will remain an archival gallery and points to Labs for new activity; reports 1,605 experiments over 14 years. | Archive landing page inspected; survival of individual demos varies and has not been audited. | Archive means preserved collection, not guaranteed working demo. Bring curiosity and a tolerance for old dependencies. |
site-012AI Art Gallery — NeurIPS creativity workshop ↗Source notes (1) | Historical collections | A collection of artist statements and projects from an earlier machine-learning art context. | Entangled Others / Sofia Crespo, Mario Klingemann, Terence Broad or Jake Elwes. | Archive / redirect Historical exhibition collection Landing page identifies the 2020 workshop and lists predominantly 2019–2020 works. | Public gallery and project summaries inspected. | Historical exhibition material, not a live feed of new work. An exhibited entry is not automatically an award winner. |
| site-013Artbreeder / Ganbreeder ↗ | Tools and model demos | A collaborative creative platform rooted in mixing, sharing and exploring images. | Compare the documented Ganbreeder experiment with the present Artbreeder interface. | Further check needed Evolved platform; current features need testing Ganbreeder documented in November 2018; current Artbreeder About page confirms the predecessor. | About page inspected; homepage extraction exposed only account controls. Current creation workflow not tested. | Ganbreeder is the predecessor. Older About-page technology descriptions may not describe the complete present stack. |

Footer says 2026, which is not publication evidence. | Homepage and latest-linked issue inspected. | The latest-linked issue found was from 2025. A 2026 footer cannot publish a newsletter by itself. |
site-015AI Weirdness ↗Source notes (1) | Editorial discovery | Janelle Shane's experiments and commentary on the peculiar behavior of machine-learning systems. | Botober 2026 and its earlier annual drawing-prompt collections. | Dated activity Current dated publication Botober 2026 listed 2026-09-30; homepage also has October 2026 posts. | Public posts inspected; some content is broader science or personal writing. | AI drawing prompts are not AI drawings. Botober deliberately revisits a small older model. |
| site-016Magenta demos ↗ | Tools and model demos | A collection of music and sound experiments, plugins and machine-learning demos. | Featured demos, then the web-demo collection for historical comparison. | Mixed-age / documented Mixed-generation collection Current demo index features Magenta RealTime 2 and The Infinite Crate alongside Magenta Studio and older browser collections; individual release dates not established here. | Demo descriptions inspected; some tools require downloads or music-production software. | An archived legacy repository does not mean every Magenta project has ended. Check each tool’s requirements. |

04 / Ours — the bench is being prepared
No findings invented.
No lab coats required.
Our own experiment reports will appear here as they are completed. No AOI experiment results are published in this section yet. These are proposed directions, not completed tests. The cat has reserved the bench; the conclusions remain unoccupied.
One brief. Different models.
Keep the scene and evaluation questions fixed. Compare composition, controllability and the corrections each result needs.
Human revision matters.
Track a first output through deliberate edits. Record which improvement came from the model, the brief or the person making the choice.
Can tomorrow repeat it?
Save the prompt, model version, settings and files. Revisit the process and explain where reproducibility ends.
What every future AOI experiment report should contain
- Question and comparison: one answerable question, a baseline and the variable being changed.
- Setup: actual date, tool and model/version, relevant settings, inputs and permission to use them.
- Procedure: the prompt or steps, attempts and revisions, including human choices.
- Evidence: outputs, observations, failures and the work needed to correct them.
- Interpretation: what the result supports, what it does not, and plausible alternative explanations.
- Recovery: downloadable records where appropriate, known dependencies and a clear revision history.

What this page knows
The directory is based on AOI’s desk research dated 17 October 2026: public pages, creator explanations, official documentation and recorded access limitations. Source notes are attached to each destination. Selected identity, archive, project and redirect claims were rechecked while preparing this page.
A public description does not establish that a demo runs, a film has been watched in full or an output is accurate. Accounts, payments, camera access and model execution were not tested in the supplied research. We have not used third-party artworks as decoration here.
What this page refuses to pretend
A neural image, procedural animation, AI-assisted code and art about AI are not interchangeable. A new exhibition can contain an old artwork. A recent crawl or copyright footer is not a creation date. And a retrieval error is not a death certificate for a website.
Prices, quotas and features can change. “Dated activity” describes the evidence in this snapshot, not a promise of permanent availability. Source lists help you inspect the claim; they do not turn marketing language into measured performance.
AI-assisted editorial production in a fictional feline voice. Curation and cautions are AOI editorial judgments, not independent product ratings. No comprehensive comparative benchmark or endorsement is claimed. Last research snapshot and page revision: .
