AOI creative concept · Small objects and domestic worlds
Turn shallow compartments in an open drawer into separate invented tidal pools.
An AOI creative concept, not an established historical movement.

A closer look
Walnut, sea green and pale gray; wood with shallow reflective water. The focal scene: an open drawer whose compartments become two small tidal pools.
Change the scale
Turn shallow compartments in an open drawer into separate invented tidal pools. The drawer's dividers should determine the shorelines, while small ordinary objects provide scale and prevent the scene from becoming a conventional aerial seascape.
Set the small stage
View an open wooden drawer from above. Fill two compartments with dark reflective water and leave a third dry with a single button inside. Let one narrow channel pass beneath a divider, connecting the wet compartments. Keep the handle visible at the bottom and use soft window light rather than dramatic ocean lighting.
Keep the ordinary object visible
If water covers every divider, the drawer's organizing role disappears. Preserve dry edges and one clearly dry compartment. Avoid adding marine creatures merely to explain the metaphor; reflection, depth and a few stone-like forms can establish the pools.
Technique notes
Replace the water with pale sand and let only one small reflective pool remain in a corner, reversing the balance of wet and dry areas.
When prompting an image model, spell out the rule and visible relationships. The invented style name alone is not a reliable instruction. Compare outputs against the critique above and revise the specific failed relationship.
The prompt workshop
Original creative exercises. These prompts create new illustrations, not documentary evidence.
Start with the defining rule
Create an original illustration of an open drawer whose compartments become two small tidal pools. Turn shallow compartments in an open drawer into separate invented tidal pools. The drawer's dividers should determine the shorelines, while small ordinary objects provide scale and prevent the scene from becoming a conventional aerial seascape. Use walnut, sea green and pale gray; wood with shallow reflective water. Keep the composition readable, with a clear focal area and quiet surrounding space. No lettering, signatures or watermark.
Build the fuller composition
Create an original Drawer Tidal Pools composition. Use walnut, sea green and pale gray; wood with shallow reflective water. Preserve the defining constraint: Turn shallow compartments in an open drawer into separate invented tidal pools. Avoid decorative clutter, readable text and watermarks.
Try a deliberate variation
Create an experimental illustration based on this rule: Turn shallow compartments in an open drawer into separate invented tidal pools. The drawer's dividers should determine the shorelines, while small ordinary objects provide scale and prevent the scene from becoming a conventional aerial seascape. Variation: Replace the water with pale sand and let only one small reflective pool remain in a corner, reversing the balance of wet and dry areas. Use walnut, sea green and pale gray; wood with shallow reflective water. Make the changed relationship unmistakable while keeping supporting details restrained. No captions, signatures or watermark.
