AOI creative concept · Light and photographic experiments
Build a small contact-sheet arrangement in which the same simple scene changes only through the position of a shadow or weather band.
An AOI creative concept, not an established historical movement.

A closer look
Neutral gray, pale blue and restrained warm light; six photographic-looking panels. The focal scene: six views of one bench crossed sequentially by a narrow weather band.
Choose the intervention
Build a small contact-sheet arrangement in which the same simple scene changes only through the position of a shadow or weather band. The frames should form a readable progression while remaining explicitly an invented sequence rather than documentary evidence.
Construct the image
Use six equal frames showing one empty bench against a wall. Move a narrow rain band from left to right across successive frames, keeping the bench and viewpoint fixed. Let the final frame become dry again. Use small plain gutters and omit timestamps or camera metadata that would imply an actual recorded session.
Keep the comparison clear
Changing the bench, framing or color in every panel weakens the comparison. Keep those variables steady and make the weather's route unmistakable. Avoid treating the panels as six unrelated pictures; the sequence should reward reading them in order.
Technique notes
Replace rain with a moving patch of reflected sunlight, allowing the last frame to retain only a faint trace at the edge.
When prompting an image model, spell out the rule and visible relationships. The invented style name alone is not a reliable instruction. Compare outputs against the critique above and revise the specific failed relationship.
The prompt workshop
Original creative exercises. These prompts create new illustrations, not documentary evidence.
Start with the defining rule
Create an original illustration of six views of one bench crossed sequentially by a narrow weather band. Build a small contact-sheet arrangement in which the same simple scene changes only through the position of a shadow or weather band. The frames should form a readable progression while remaining explicitly an invented sequence rather than documentary evidence. Use neutral gray, pale blue and restrained warm light; six photographic-looking panels. Keep the composition readable, with a clear focal area and quiet surrounding space. No lettering, signatures or watermark.
Build the fuller composition
Create an original Contactsheet Weather Drift composition. Use six equal frames showing one empty bench against a wall. Move a narrow rain band from left to right across successive frames, keeping the bench and viewpoint fixed. Let the final frame become dry again. Use small plain gutters and omit timestamps or camera metadata that would imply an actual recorded session. Use neutral gray, pale blue and restrained warm light; six photographic-looking panels. Preserve the defining constraint: Build a small contact-sheet arrangement in which the same simple scene changes only through the position of a shadow or weather band. Avoid decorative clutter, readable text and watermarks.
Try a deliberate variation
Create an experimental illustration based on this rule: Build a small contact-sheet arrangement in which the same simple scene changes only through the position of a shadow or weather band. The frames should form a readable progression while remaining explicitly an invented sequence rather than documentary evidence. Variation: Replace rain with a moving patch of reflected sunlight, allowing the last frame to retain only a faint trace at the edge. Use neutral gray, pale blue and restrained warm light; six photographic-looking panels. Make the changed relationship unmistakable while keeping supporting details restrained. No captions, signatures or watermark.
