AOI creative concept · Small objects and domestic worlds
Arrange ordinary buttons as a compact imaginary planetary system, using thread paths to indicate orbits.
An AOI creative concept, not an established historical movement.

A closer look
Navy, cream and muted red; worn buttons and cotton thread. The focal scene: four buttons forming an invented planetary system on plain cloth.
Change the scale
Arrange ordinary buttons as a compact imaginary planetary system, using thread paths to indicate orbits. The holes, rims and surface wear must remain visible so the image keeps its domestic material identity rather than becoming generic space illustration.
Set the small stage
Place a large dark button off-center on a pale cloth and surround it with three smaller buttons at unequal distances. Lay one loose thread in an incomplete orbit around the largest. Use a small side shadow beneath each button to establish depth. Leave the background free of stars and cosmic clouds.
Keep the ordinary object visible
Perfect concentric circles feel like a school diagram. Break an orbit and vary the spacing while retaining a clear hierarchy. Do not attach actual planet names or imply scientific scale; the system is a fictional arrangement of familiar objects.
Technique notes
Stand one button upright on its edge and let the thread pass through its holes, turning the orbit into a visibly physical route.
When prompting an image model, spell out the rule and visible relationships. The invented style name alone is not a reliable instruction. Compare outputs against the critique above and revise the specific failed relationship.
The prompt workshop
Original creative exercises. These prompts create new illustrations, not documentary evidence.
Start with the defining rule
Create an original illustration of four buttons forming an invented planetary system on plain cloth. Arrange ordinary buttons as a compact imaginary planetary system, using thread paths to indicate orbits. The holes, rims and surface wear must remain visible so the image keeps its domestic material identity rather than becoming generic space illustration. Use navy, cream and muted red; worn buttons and cotton thread. Keep the composition readable, with a clear focal area and quiet surrounding space. No lettering, signatures or watermark.
Build the fuller composition
Create an original Button Planetariums composition. Place a large dark button off-center on a pale cloth and surround it with three smaller buttons at unequal distances. Lay one loose thread in an incomplete orbit around the largest. Use a small side shadow beneath each button to establish depth. Leave the background free of stars and cosmic clouds. Use navy, cream and muted red; worn buttons and cotton thread. Preserve the defining constraint: Arrange ordinary buttons as a compact imaginary planetary system, using thread paths to indicate orbits. Avoid decorative clutter, readable text and watermarks.
Try a deliberate variation
Create an experimental illustration based on this rule: Arrange ordinary buttons as a compact imaginary planetary system, using thread paths to indicate orbits. The holes, rims and surface wear must remain visible so the image keeps its domestic material identity rather than becoming generic space illustration. Variation: Stand one button upright on its edge and let the thread pass through its holes, turning the orbit into a visibly physical route. Use navy, cream and muted red; worn buttons and cotton thread. Make the changed relationship unmistakable while keeping supporting details restrained. No captions, signatures or watermark.
