AOI creative concept · Paper and printed matter
Construct an imaginary city from long receipt-shaped strips, with folds determining the street plan.
An AOI creative concept, not an established historical movement.

A closer look
Thermal-paper ivory, graphite and amber; creased paper on a dark table. The focal scene: a folded paper city with a low bridge.
The edge sets the rule
Construct an imaginary city from long receipt-shaped strips, with folds determining the street plan. Blank columns and short nonverbal marks suggest printed matter without requiring legible commerce. Buildings emerge where the strips turn upright.
Arrange the paper scene
Start with three pale strips crossing a dark tabletop. Fold one into a tall apartment slab and another into a low bridge. Use small repeated dashes as windows only on the vertical surfaces. Let one loose end curl toward the viewer, connecting the miniature city to the ordinary scale of the paper material.
Where the illusion weakens
A convincing fold must explain each building's support. Avoid an unlimited skyline sprouting from nowhere, and avoid fabricated shop names or prices. The interest lies in a modest material becoming spatially ambitious, with a few visible compromises.
Technique notes
Make a night version in which the unprinted gaps glow while the printed marks remain dark, preserving the same folded street plan.
When prompting an image model, spell out the rule and visible relationships. The invented style name alone is not a reliable instruction. Compare outputs against the critique above and revise the specific failed relationship.
The prompt workshop
Original creative exercises. These prompts create new illustrations, not documentary evidence.
Start with the defining rule
Create an original illustration of a folded paper city with a low bridge. Construct an imaginary city from long receipt-shaped strips, with folds determining the street plan. Blank columns and short nonverbal marks suggest printed matter without requiring legible commerce. Buildings emerge where the strips turn upright. Use thermal-paper ivory, graphite and amber; creased paper on a dark table. Keep the composition readable, with a clear focal area and quiet surrounding space. No lettering, signatures or watermark.
Build the fuller composition
Create an original Receipt City Fold composition. Use thermal-paper ivory, graphite and amber; creased paper on a dark table. Preserve the defining constraint: Construct an imaginary city from long receipt-shaped strips, with folds determining the street plan. Avoid decorative clutter, readable text and watermarks.
Try a deliberate variation
Create an experimental illustration based on this rule: Construct an imaginary city from long receipt-shaped strips, with folds determining the street plan. Blank columns and short nonverbal marks suggest printed matter without requiring legible commerce. Buildings emerge where the strips turn upright. Variation: Make a night version in which the unprinted gaps glow while the printed marks remain dark, preserving the same folded street plan. Use thermal-paper ivory, graphite and amber; creased paper on a dark table. Make the changed relationship unmistakable while keeping supporting details restrained. No captions, signatures or watermark.
