AOI creative concept · Rhythm and geometric systems
Arrange elongated rectangles around an implied circular route, but let each keep a different orientation relative to that route.
An AOI creative concept, not an established historical movement.

A closer look
Slate blue, soft coral and warm gray; elongated matte rectangles. The focal scene: seven differently oriented rectangles around an incomplete circular route.
Establish the system
Arrange elongated rectangles around an implied circular route, but let each keep a different orientation relative to that route. The tension between orbit and refusal should make the composition feel coordinated without becoming a simple radial sunburst.
Place the shapes
Place seven narrow rectangles around a large empty center. Align three tangentially, two radially and two at intermediate angles. Keep their widths similar but vary length enough to establish a dominant pair. Use a restrained palette and leave a conspicuous gap in the orbit to prevent closure.
Make the exception count
A fully regular radial arrangement is too obedient for this concept. Preserve the mixed orientations while checking that the implied circle remains readable. If the center disappears among the shapes, move the longest rectangles outward rather than shrinking everything equally.
Technique notes
Give the rectangles shallow thickness and use one light source so their cast shadows form a quieter, more regular orbit beneath the irregular arrangement.
When prompting an image model, spell out the rule and visible relationships. The invented style name alone is not a reliable instruction. Compare outputs against the critique above and revise the specific failed relationship.
The prompt workshop
Original creative exercises. These prompts create new illustrations, not documentary evidence.
Start with the defining rule
Create an original illustration of seven differently oriented rectangles around an incomplete circular route. Arrange elongated rectangles around an implied circular route, but let each keep a different orientation relative to that route. The tension between orbit and refusal should make the composition feel coordinated without becoming a simple radial sunburst. Use slate blue, soft coral and warm gray; elongated matte rectangles. Keep the composition readable, with a clear focal area and quiet surrounding space. No lettering, signatures or watermark.
Build the fuller composition
Create an original Orbit Rectangle Choir composition. Place seven narrow rectangles around a large empty center. Align three tangentially, two radially and two at intermediate angles. Keep their widths similar but vary length enough to establish a dominant pair. Use a restrained palette and leave a conspicuous gap in the orbit to prevent closure. Use slate blue, soft coral and warm gray; elongated matte rectangles. Preserve the defining constraint: Arrange elongated rectangles around an implied circular route, but let each keep a different orientation relative to that route. Avoid decorative clutter, readable text and watermarks.
Try a deliberate variation
Create an experimental illustration based on this rule: Arrange elongated rectangles around an implied circular route, but let each keep a different orientation relative to that route. The tension between orbit and refusal should make the composition feel coordinated without becoming a simple radial sunburst. Variation: Give the rectangles shallow thickness and use one light source so their cast shadows form a quieter, more regular orbit beneath the irregular arrangement. Use slate blue, soft coral and warm gray; elongated matte rectangles. Make the changed relationship unmistakable while keeping supporting details restrained. No captions, signatures or watermark.
