Neo-Plasticism is associated with Piet Mondrian’s articulated artistic philosophy and his writings in De Stijl. MoMA describes its departure from naturalistic representation toward straight lines, rectangular planes and primary colors. Those formal decisions were connected with wider ideas of harmony and order. A contemporary geometric design may use similar ingredients without becoming a historical Neo-Plasticist work or reproducing the full philosophy.
