Detailed Description

Cubism was an art movement that began in the early 20th century. It was characterized by the use of geometric shapes and forms to create images. Cubism was developed by Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque. Other artists associated with the movement include Juan Gris, Fernand Leger, and Marcel Duchamp. Cubism was a reaction against the traditional rules of perspective and representation. Picasso and Braque began to experiment with new ways of seeing and depicting objects. They began to break down objects into their basic geometric shapes. This allowed them to create new, abstract images. Cubism had a major impact on the development of modern art. It was one of the first art movements to embrace abstraction. It also paved the way for future movements, such as Surrealism and Abstract Expressionism. Famous Cubist paintings include Picasso’s Les Demoiselles d’Avignon (1907) and Braque’s Houses at L’Estaque (1908).
