Famous Roman painters include the likes of Pompeii’s fresco artists and the 1st century A.D. painter, Pliny the Elder. One of the most famous examples of Roman painting is the frescoes of Pompeii. These frescoes were painted in a realistic style and often depicted scenes from daily life. The use of perspective and light was used to create a sense of depth and drama in the paintings. Pliny the Elder was a famous Roman painter who lived in the 1st century A.D. He was known for his realistic style of painting and his use of light and shadow to create a sense of depth. Pliny’s most famous painting is the “Nero’s Golden House” which depicts the lavish lifestyle of the Roman Emperor Nero. Roman art was heavily influenced by the art of Greece. Roman artists often copied the style of their Greek counterparts. However, Roman artists also developed their own unique style that was characterized by its realism and use of perspective.
