Make a heavy stone feel woven

The reviewed AOI artwork is a speculative sculpture: thin limestone loops bend and interlace beyond ordinary carving practice. Their rough mineral faces and substantial width nevertheless make the material credible. Every crossing casts a deeper shadow, so the eye can follow which ribbon passes over and which passes under. A handful of star-like points appear inside the openings rather than coating the entire surface with glitter.

Design the weave as a readable network before adding illumination. Let a broad band cross a narrower one and keep several large gaps open. Use chipped or granular stone texture on the outside, smoother worn edges where forms nearly touch. Too much fine lattice turns the piece into visual noise; too many lights weaken the sense that the sculpture is still primarily limestone.

Let darkness draw the interlace

Place the work against a dark sky or shadowed room and use one gentle side light to reveal the pale bands. The collage tests the idea as a close weave, a freestanding arch and an illuminated façade. At any scale, the weave must remain traceable and the lights should read as selected accents. The name describes a contemporary imagined visual system, not an established stoneworking tradition.
