Draw with moving fabric
Calligraphy supplies the idea of a deliberate gesture here, but the reviewed AOI artwork does not spell a character and should not be read as a real script. Its main stroke rises, curls and descends through space. Translucent cream silk crosses a darker band several times, producing the tonal changes of ink wash without losing the fabric's visible folds.
Choose one principal direction before adding secondary ribbons. Let a dark strip carry the thickest part of the gesture and a light strip reveal the air around it. Make overlaps partly transparent, then taper the ends into wispy edges.
