Creative experiment · fiber as waveform
Felted Seismograph uses thick and thin wool fibers to turn a recorded-looking trace into tactile relief. Peaks stand up from soft fields of indigo, rust and ivory.

A long ivory fiber wave crosses layered wool panels. One large peak anchors the center, while smaller oscillations settle toward each edge.
Make a trace you can almost touch
The waveform in Felted Seismograph is an invented visual form, not a record of a real earthquake or an instrument reading. The AOI concept borrows the seismograph's rhythm and builds it out of felt. Fiber thickness can suggest amplitude: dense upright strands make a dramatic peak, while thin laid-down lines signal the return to quiet.
Lay down broad color bands first. The background should have enough texture to remain material, but its fibers must not compete with the main trace. Run one continuous pale line through the composition, then let select segments rise in relief. Small irregularities are useful: perfectly repeated spikes would look like a digital icon pasted over cloth.
Balance event and silence
The largest central spike earns its drama from calmer sections before and after it. Leave a generous margin above and below the line so the wave has room to expand. The reviewed example is abstract and contains no literal landscape or animal. When generating a variant, ask for tactile wool and a specific event pattern; inspect whether the fiber truly forms the trace rather than merely covering a flat printed graph.
Pocket-sized facts
Status: invented AOI creative experiment; not a documented historical movement.

The prompt workshop
Original creative exercises. These prompts create new illustrations, not documentary evidence.
One felted wave
Create an original abstract felt wall work with a single ivory seismograph-like waveform rising sharply from layered indigo and rust wool. Keep fibers tactile, margins generous and no labels. No text or logo.
Quiet after the peak
Create an original Felted Seismograph triptych: a dense central wool-fiber spike tapering into smaller waves across three joined panels. Indigo, rust and cream felt, visible soft relief. No words or logo.
Study the fiber
Create an original macro view of thick felted ivory fibers forming one waveform peak against dark blue wool, with a few rust strands crossing beneath. No text or logo.
