Assemblage is a type of art that uses found objects to create a new work of art. The term was first coined by French artist Jean Dubuffet in the 1950s. Assemblage artists often use everyday objects in their artworks, which can give the art a sense of humor or irony. Some famous assemblage artists include: -Robert Rauschenberg -Jasper Johns -Yoko Ono One of the most famous assemblage artworks is Robert Rauschenberg’s “Combine” paintings. These paintings are made from a variety of materials, including fabric, newspapers, and even a stuffed goat. Rauschenberg’s work challenged the traditional idea of what a painting could be. Assemblage art is often seen as a type of sculpture, but it can also be considered a type of collage. Assemblage artists often use a variety of techniques, including painting, sewing, and gluing, to create their artworks.
