Detailed Description

In 1932, Danish carpenter Ole Kirk Christiansen started making wooden toys in his carpentry workshop. He named his company LEGO, based on the Danish words “leg godt,” meaning “play well.” In 1934, LEGO began producing plastic toys, which became wildly popular. It wasn’t until 1949 that LEGO began producing the interlocking blocks that are now known around the world. LEGO blocks were originally designed for children to use as building blocks, but they quickly became popular with all ages. Today, LEGO is one of the world’s most popular toys, with a wide range of sets and accessories available. There are many famous artists who have used LEGO bricks in their work, including Andy Warhol, who created a series of portraits using LEGO bricks, and Damien Hirst, who used LEGO bricks to create a life-sized replica of a human skull. LEGO bricks have also been used in a number of films and TV shows, including The Simpsons, The Lego Movie, and Stranger Things.
