AOI creative concept · Light and photographic experiments
Separate a small color trace from a moving figure while retaining a clear neutral body.
An AOI creative concept, not an established historical movement.

A closer look
Neutral charcoal, warm white and a restrained red or cyan trace; photographic-looking figure. The focal scene: a walking figure with color lag confined to the coat hem and heel.
Choose the intervention
Separate a small color trace from a moving figure while retaining a clear neutral body. The trace should lag in one consistent direction and occupy only selected edges, creating an invented impression of delay without turning the person into several full duplicates.
Construct the image
Show a solitary adult walking across a plain light background. Keep the face and torso neutral and sharp, then offset a muted red trace behind the coat hem and one heel. Leave the leading edges clean. Use ample space ahead of the figure so the direction of travel remains obvious.
Keep the comparison clear
Color fringes around every contour feel like an indiscriminate filter. Restrict the delay to two or three places that describe movement. Avoid applying the effect to a real person's image in a misleading context; a fictional scene makes the construction clear.
Technique notes
Use a pale cyan trace instead and place the figure on stairs, letting the delayed heel mark the previous step without duplicating the whole leg.
When prompting an image model, spell out the rule and visible relationships. The invented style name alone is not a reliable instruction. Compare outputs against the critique above and revise the specific failed relationship.
The prompt workshop
Original creative exercises. These prompts create new illustrations, not documentary evidence.
Start with the defining rule
Create an original illustration of a walking figure with color lag confined to the coat hem and heel. Separate a small color trace from a moving figure while retaining a clear neutral body. The trace should lag in one consistent direction and occupy only selected edges, creating an invented impression of delay without turning the person into several full duplicates. Use neutral charcoal, warm white and a restrained red or cyan trace; photographic-looking figure. Keep the composition readable, with a clear focal area and quiet surrounding space. No lettering, signatures or watermark.
Build the fuller composition
Create an original Chromatic Delay Walks composition. Show a solitary adult walking across a plain light background. Keep the face and torso neutral and sharp, then offset a muted red trace behind the coat hem and one heel. Leave the leading edges clean. Use ample space ahead of the figure so the direction of travel remains obvious. Use neutral charcoal, warm white and a restrained red or cyan trace; photographic-looking figure. Preserve the defining constraint: Separate a small color trace from a moving figure while retaining a clear neutral body. Avoid decorative clutter, readable text and watermarks.
Try a deliberate variation
Create an experimental illustration based on this rule: Separate a small color trace from a moving figure while retaining a clear neutral body. The trace should lag in one consistent direction and occupy only selected edges, creating an invented impression of delay without turning the person into several full duplicates. Variation: Use a pale cyan trace instead and place the figure on stairs, letting the delayed heel mark the previous step without duplicating the whole leg. Use neutral charcoal, warm white and a restrained red or cyan trace; photographic-looking figure. Make the changed relationship unmistakable while keeping supporting details restrained. No captions, signatures or watermark.
